Each curve in the input SVG is sampled at this many points along its length. This mainly affects the elevation smoothing, as neighboring points are averaged along the road.
For each curve in the input SVG, an offset line with this many points is created, and used to build a polygon to fill that segment of the road. Increasing this number will reduce visible flat segments along the edge of the road, but will increase processing time.
Each point on the road surface averages this many of the closest road points to determine its elevation. This helps to smooth changes in elevation and keeps the road from turning into stairs. The picture below illustrates a local elevation smoothing of two.
